1960 SO-23 A.K.A. Gunther
Re: 1960 SO-23 A.K.A. Gunther
Got some stuff put back on the bus this weekend. Starting to look like a camper again.
Windows are in, lights installed and some seals are placed. It’s coming along pretty nicely.

Finally got the roof rack down from the trusses. Worked on it this past weekend to get it cleaned up and ready for installation. It came out pretty nice … but not too nice, it still looks old and weathered but very functional.
Gunther will have a top hat on like a true gentleman. Now if only it will fit through the garage door opening. We’ll fugure that out after Kelleys.

Ready for Kelley’s…
He runs, he has a bed and the roof rack is attached.
I can’t thank Kirk enough for for all of the help to get it done.

Beautiful.

Gunther is being well kept this winter to say the least. I will be working on getting all of the interior reinstalled from the post paint job work. There is a lot of clean up needed, some seals need to be installed yet and other odds and ends to be done.
I am also getting the transmission rebuilt this winter so I had a few helpers come out to the shop to assist in removing the engine and transmission. Thanks Ricky for guiding the team in getting this done. I appreciate you boys helping out. AND of course Chuck for the supervision as always.

The transmission was dropped off at B&D Custom Performance in MI the first weekend in January. Should be getting it back in Feb / March. I’ve been taking the opportunity over the past few weekends to wire brush, clean, prime and paint the bottom. I finished that today. It’s not perfect but at least I finally got a coat of protection on it. It’s a messy job, much needed and glad it’s done. I only took a few photos, before and after.
Next on the agenda is to replace the vent windows that cracked in transit and install a new wiring harness.

I am certain that I am, but I have accepted this.
Thanks Ricky! I appreciate the encouragement. It keeps things moving.
